The New Target : The disc mounted here is Palladium-Titanium. This shot is after I had used it once to coat the carbon that you see in the Scanning Electron Micrscope shots below. I made the mount on a lathe. You can also see the various stages of its construction in other pictures here.

"Wide" Shot of Carbon Fiber with Palladium-Titanium : You cannot see the Pd-Ti at this magnefication though. I put this picture in for scale. The groupings of Carbon fibers are about 2mm across. The fibers that make up the groupings are about the size human hairs.

Single Carbon Fiber with Palladium-Titanium on it. : This is a single Carbon fiber close up under scanning electron microscope with other fibers in the back ground. You can see here the Pd-Ti on it. This was my first coated sample with my new Pd-Ti sputtering target. I was very hapy with how much I was able to put on it.

Carbon fiber before sputter coating with silver : I coated this strand of carbon fiber cloth with silver (see plasma pics) to test my sputtering chamber. You can see the results in the Scanning electron microscope pictures. When coated with palladium-titanium the carbon cloth will be used to construct a hydrogen fuel cell and make clean electricity

The 1st ark of current leaps across. 5000V and low atmosphere : When the pressure reaches about 70 torr current will begin to ark across at the closest point between the electrodes. As the pressure continues to lower the current will eventually ark at any point.
